How to reach the Nature Park Puez-Geisler/Odle

The Nature Park Puez-Geisler/Olde is a protected habitat for flora and fauna as well as a popular recreation area for locals and guests alike seeking nature-related outdoor activities. The very well-developed network of hiking trails allows you to experience the unique landscape of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. The best way to reach the starting point of Zans/Zannes is without a car. In fact, there are various other possibilities to reach it: on foot, by bicycle or by public transport. On foot - climate neutral and immersed in nature

Step by step into a hiker's paradise. It is not just about exercising in the breathtaking landscape of the Dolomites, but also about experiencing the typical flora and fauna of this alpine area up close throughout the hike. Numerous hiking trails lead to the starting point Zans or directly further into the heart of the Nature Park.

Tip: Before you start hiking, inform yourself about safety in the mountains, the current weather conditions and whether the hiking trail of your choice is open.
 

By bike - with muscle power or electric

Whether by mountain bike or e-mountain bike, in summer the Nature Park can be explored on two wheels via an extensive network of forest paths to Zans and beyond. There is also a direct connecting mountain bike route from Brixen/Bressanone to St. Magdalena/Ranui.

By bus - environmentally friendly and reliable

In Villnöss valley in the Dolomites, environmentally friendly mobility is a top priority. For this reason, we encourage our visitors to use sustainable forms of mobility wherever possible and use public transport to reach the desired starting points for hikes.
The starting point Zans can be reliably reached by public bus every hour (both in summer and winter - except November and April).

The Dolomiti Card is available exclusively for all guests of the member establishments of Villnöss Tourism Cooperation. With this guest card all South Tyrolean public transport can be used free of charge and without restrictions.
An online reservation for a seat on the public bus line is not possible and also not necessary.

By car - flexible but not stress-free

The starting point Zans can also be reached by private car. There is a car park there for which a fee is charged. The number of parking spaces is limited and reaches its capacity, especially in high season. The availability of parking spaces is announced in real time by a traffic light system already in place at St. Magdalena/Ranui. When the traffic light shows red, the entire car park at Zans is occupied. In this case, access can be denied. Visitors should park in the alternative car park in Ranui and continue their journey by public transport, on foot or by bike.
A certain number of parking spaces at Zans can also be booked online (CAR ONLY). With an online reservation, you can continue to Zans even when the traffic lights are red and your parking space is guaranteed for the entire day booked.

By car you can reach South Tyrol via the motorway A22 Brenner/Brennero. Coming from the north, follow the route Innsbruck - Brenner – Klausen/Chiusa. Coming from the south, follow Verona - Trento – Bolzano/Bozen. To get to Villnöss valley get off the motorway at Klausen-Gröden/Chiusa-Val Gardena. Follow the indications to Brixen/Bressanone for 2 km and then turn right in direction Villnöss valley. The Zans car park is located at the head of the valley. Traffic jams and other inconveniences can be expected at any time during the summer months.
